PARTNERS

Involvement of External Partners

Staten Island Technical High School has an assortment of business, industry and post-secondary partners, whose collaboration with the school has helped establish the performance standards for the CTE program.

By collaborating with local business, students are able to validate and translate the skills they learned in the classroom by performing them in jobs and internships while employers benefit from the help of interns.

We are currently looking for community members to get involved with our career development program and help our students gain exposure to the professional world.  We have different levels of commitment that we are looking for from our partners.  If you want to get involved, please click on the link for the activity that you wish to participate in, and fill out the short form to give us the relevant information that we need to set up the activity.

We can do this in person or virtually (through GoToMeeting). After you complete the form someone will be in contact with you to set up the event.

Backpacks 2 Briefcases

Backpacks 2 Briefcases is an opportunity for career-minded Staten Island Tech students to learn about a wide range of career opportunities to them.  On a regular basis, we reach out to the community (alumni and parents) and try to find people with interesting careers (doctors, lawyers, educators, computer experts, engineers, etc.) who are willing to come and share with our students about the work that they do.  This program enables Tech students to get a clearer understanding of possible life choices for them.

We are currently seeking internship placements for our students in a variety of fields.  If you are willing to host an intern to help you in your workplace, while exposing them to the professions available in your field, please fill out the form linked to the title of this section.  These can be paid or unpaid positions. Staten Island Technical High School can set up a paid internships through partnerships with Untied Activities Unlimited at no cost to you.

We are currently looking job shadowing placements for our students in a variety of fields.  If you are willing to host a student(s) we would expect them to be able to observe you or someone at your place of business over the course of 2-10 days.

If you represent a business and want to hire students for part-time employment, please click on the link above.

If you represent a business and want to become a board member to work more closely with our school, we meet once every two months to discuss the development of the program  and to find new ways to prepare students to become future leaders in a variety of fields.

Staten Island Tech is open to all forms of involvement with our school to get our students exposure to different careers in the area.  We look forward to having a fluid relationship with our partners, so if you have a specific idea or program, such as a community service project or other career activity or if you are unsure of what commitment works best for you, please feel free to contact Jared Jax at [email protected] to discuss possible options.
