Daily Bell Schedule: For your quick reference - Bell Schedule.

 

Science Labs / Intro to Technology Class START on MONDAY, Sept 20th: Please check your schedule carefully for which days you MAY have a Lab or Intro to Tech 1st or 9th period, or need to attend a class during your scheduled lunch period. If you normally have lunch during this period, a Grab & Go lunch will be available (delivered) for you to take at the conclusion or during the class.

 

COVID Testing (Updated 9/21): As per the NYC DOE updates, COVID testing resumes with our first date scheduled for Thursday, September 23rd at 10:30 AM. A random sample of students will be tested on a weekly basis based on communications from the NYC DOE testing unit. You may opt-in or opt-out, using your NYCSA Online Account or by downloading and submitting a paper form to room 125 at SI Tech.

 

Request a Device: Please review our BYOD document for device information. If you need to be provided with a device, we can provide you with one by completing the following form via the this link: Click Here . If you request a device, please stop by Room 108 during your lunch period the next day. YOU MUST complete the form within 24 hours of showing up to receive your device.

 

Meet the Principal: Hi students! It's typically me who is updating these pages, and I thought that I'd slip in a quick hello and encourage you to stop by my office if you ever want to chat, say hello or need help. Room 119. My secretary, Ms. Laforgia and our staff are there to great you. If you look beyond the desks, you'll see me in my office. Look forward to getting to know all of you!

 

Health Screening: Please attempt to complete your Health Screening at home before arriving to school using the Health Screening Link / or PDF for Printing . NYC DOE computer servers were overwhelmed this morning with everyone trying to use the system at the same time.

 

Building Entry: The Cafeteria and Lindeberg Avenue entrances will be opened at 7:30 am to begin scanning students into the building. Grade 9 & 10 students should enter via the Lindbergh Avenue entrance if you have a 1st period, otherwise the Cafeteria Entrance.

 

ID Cards and Working Papers: Student ID cards that do not have pictures on them will be updated once we complete the School ID Photo process this week. If you need a new card, you can pick one up in room 123. Working Papers can be acquired in room 123.

 

Metro Cards: If you need a Metrocard, please visit room 123.

 

Tech Connects Table in the Cafeteria: Tech Connects is our Peer Mentorship program, which aims to bring 9th & 10th graders with 11th & 12th graders in an effort to build bonds, friendships and create a sense of comfort and community during and beyond the school day. Each lunch period, there are two tables (to start with) labeled Tech Connects, which students are invited to visit and get to meet our friendly and awesome students.

I. MONDAY, SEPT 13, 2021 - FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL

 

GRADE 9

 

9TH GRADE STUDENTS BUILDING ENTRY:

 

All 9th-grade students who BEGIN THE DAY 1ST PERIOD, OR who are unable to come on Friday, September 10th, will enter through the Lindeberg Avenue Entrance at 7:45 am.  Once in the Auditorium, students will be able to have a “Grab-N-Go” Breakfast, to ask any questions they may still have about their programs, and will pick up any items they may not have received on Friday.

 

All 9th-grade students who BEGIN THE DAY 2ND PERIOD, AND have collected their items listed above, will enter through the Cafeteria located behind the school building at 8:30am. The cafeteria is accessible from both Colgate Place and Lindberg Avenue. Here, students will be able to have a “Grab-N-Go” Breakfast, to ask any questions they may still have about their programs, and will pick up any items they may not have received on Friday.

 

  • The school day for Monday, September 13th and Tuesday, September 14th will be from 8 AM - 2:29 PM. There will be a 30-min homeroom after period 2 (Bell-Schedule Link) on both days.
  • There will be Grab-N-Go Breakfast in the Auditorium & Cafeteria.
  • Lunch will be served to all students in the cafeteria.

 

WHAT IS MY HOMEROOM / HR TEACHER / HR CLASSROOM: 

Under the Student Life section on the school website there are two link: Homeroom List & Lookup Homeroom by OSIS which will tell you your assigned Homeroom and where to report during homeroom on Monday and Tuesday.

 

IMPORTANT NOTE REGARDING SCIENCE LABS & INTRO TO TECHNOLOGY CLASS: 

Science Lab Classes and the Introduction to Technology & Career Classes WILL NOT begin until Monday, September 20, 2021.

 

METROCARD DISTRIBUTION

      • Metrocards will be distributed on Tuesday during homeroom.

 

NEED A(N) (NEW) ID CARD

      • ID Cards that were not picked up on Friday (September 9th), will be distributed on Monday / Tuesday during homeroom. For any other reason, if you need a new ID card, please visit room 123 to request and pick-up a new ID card.

 

PHYS ED UNIFORM & LOCK

      • All 9th and 10th grade students will need to purchase a school lock via the SO Store (C-51, near the cafeteria) for their Phys Ed locker, which they will use during Phys Ed class only. Locks must be purchased (Price = $7.00) via the School SO Store (C-51, near the cafeteria) during the first week of school.
      • Students will not need to access their locker for Phys Ed until the second week of school where students will begin to change into their Phys Ed uniform for class.
      • If you haven't ordered a Phys Ed Uniform as of yet, the "initial" window to order closes on September 19th, for a delivery date scheduled for approximately the middle of October. 
      • Phys Ed uniforms will not be mandated until a date later in October, although if your child has one already, they should begin to change starting the second week of school (9/20).

Over the past eight years, teachers, administrators and district leaders have been working together to support how digital 1:1 Education Technologies are utilized at Staten Island Technical High School and how to optimize access to e-Learning opportunities for students both in and outside of school, while educating our students to be exemplary digital citizens and 21st Century learners.

WiFi In School: Students can connect one personal computer device to the school’s WiFi network via the self-help stations in school by rooms C-56 (Near the cafeteria), Room 110, or the Library. Look for this poster outside C-56 (Near the cafeteria), Room 110, or the Library to connect your device to the WiFi network.

NYC DOE is sharing the 2021-22 school year health and safety guidance. This updated guidance covers the following areas:

2021-22 UNIVERSAL ACADEMIC GRADING POLICY

Under the Academics section of the www.siths.org website, you can access the 2021-22 Universal Grading Policy for Staten Island Tech.  

SITHS-TRANSITION to DOE GOOGLE STUDENT EMAIL ACCOUNT

As our school transitions from our SITHS.org Platform to the NYC DOE Google Classroom Platform (using your @nycstudents.net), we are working on ensuring all students are informed of their DOE Username and DOE Password.  Some students may already know this information.  However, during the next few days, we will be resetting all student passwords that are connected to their DOE Student email. 

During homeroom (on Monday, September 13th and Tuesday, September 14th), all students will receive a personalized document with their DOE Username, DOE Password and information on how to access their email and this domain.  Until then, please do not be alarmed if you cannot access this email.  Once given your new password, you will then be able to go in and change your password.

URGENT: Once you have completed the password update, having these credentials will allow you to access your Google Classrooms which are already created for you.  Once you have updated the password, we ask that you update your Naviance Account and Pupilpath Account, whereby you change your email on Naviance and Pupilpath to your @nycstudents.net e-mail address.

 

STUDENTS PROGRAM ON PUPILPATH

 

The programs that appeared on Thursday, September 1st in Pupil Path were NOT the correct programs.

 

Please log into your account again on Saturday, September 4th to view your tentative program. NOTE: 9th grade PupilPath account registration information has been mailed home on Thursday and should arrive in the next few days. Please be patient.

 

A few reminders:

  1. These programs are tentative and are subject to change based on the continuous updates we have been receiving regarding COVID safety protocols.
  2. All students must be programmed for 7 periods of classes. This does NOT include lunch.
  3. The following classes count as 2 periods of instruction - AP Calculus (AB & BC), AP Biology, AP Chemistry, All AP Physics classes (1D, 2 & C) and AP Environmental Science.
  4. All freshmen, sophomores and juniors are required to have lunch.
  5. If you feel there is an error (that you are programmed for the wrong class) or that a class is missing, please indicate it on the Google form. The programming team will review and reach out to you, if need be, to discuss. Please allow time for us to review your written request and do not email different staff members. Requests will only be addressed through the Google form.
  6. No requests to change start time, dismissal time, specific teachers and periods for a class or specific lunch periods will be honored – please do not request these types of changes.
  7. Spring NX classes that were not made up over the summer are not included on your program but will be added next week for you to continue to have the opportunity to achieve those credits.

 

The Google form (https://forms.gle/qabsthisfmbx9QEA6) is here to request any changes. Again, please do not email any SITHS staff members with programming issues. The ONLY requests that will be looked at are those submitted through this Google form. Please submit your request by noon on Tuesday, September 7th. Thank you! OPPORTUNITY AND ACCESS FOR COVID VACCINATIONS

 

COVID Vaccination Available at SI Tech for Everyone who is Eligible: In partnership with the NYC Test & Trace Corps and the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, the NYC DOE has arranged for Staten Island Tech to offer the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccinations to those during the first week of school (with second doses provided at the beginning of October) to make it as easy as possible to stay safe. No appointment is needed, and you can visit our school from 7 am - 11 am, Mon 9/13, Tues 9/14, Wed 9/15 and Fri 9/16. Click here fore more info and the Parent Consent form for minors.
