Our softball and baseball fields were named in honor of Ms. Gloria Cordes Elliott and Mr. Bob Steele respectively. The ceremony took place on June 8th. Ms. Gloria Cordes Elliott was honored for being one of the first women professional baseball players, and Mr. Bob Steele was honored for his 41 years coaching the McKee/Staten Island Tech baseball team.
On Sunday, March 8, 2020, at Fabulous Football Sunday at Curtis High School, Justin Cohen's name was announced to the audience as the year's Dennis Barrett Award recipient for his excellence on the football field and his service to the community. Besides playing as a linebacker and fullback as a three-year varsity member, he worked alongside his teammates as a tutor, a worker for NYC food bank, a fundraising coordinator for Upper Saddle River Children's Academy, and volunteering at resource centers for underprivileged children among other activities.
Staten Island Technical High School Senior, Miriam Aziz, Recognized As NYC's Best PSAL Tennis Player
On Friday, November 1, 2019, Miriam Aziz achieved first place in the NYC Public School Athletic League Championships, which took place at Lehman College in the Bronx. During semifinals, she won against students from Queens School of Inquiry and Curtis High School with formidable leads. Finally, Miriam was named best PSAL player in NYC after defeating Brooklyn Technical High School 6-0 both sets. At her time in Staten Island Technical High School, she has been undefeated and was also awarded with this honorable title last year. Congratulations to our star tennis player!
Thanks to guidance of coach Michael Padmore, as well as the energy and hard work the MSIT Boys Varsity Soccer team put into each practice, the team was crowned winners of the PSAL Staten Island Borough Championship in a definitive match against Petrides on Monday, October 21, 2019.
