A unique research opportunity in the emerging biological field of “Metagenomics,” the study of DNA and gene sequencing of microbes (microscopic organisms) recovered from the environment (soil, seawater, and desert) and human body without culturing them in the laboratory. Metagenomics is used to investigate and understand the evolution, metabolism and interplay of these microbes. A very unique partnership between Staten Island Tech’s CTE (Career and Technical Education Program) and the United Federation of Teachers (UFT) and the City of New York exists to streamline students like you into the career of teaching.

This program is unlike any other SITHS Internship Program. This program is NOT about exploring potential careers. This is an apprenticeship program for a student in their senior year, or who has recently graduated who is HIGHLY COMMITTED to becoming a teacher.
