Internships

The SCA Summer Internship Program (“SIP”) recruits talented NYC public high school students for a six-week paid internship with various SCA departments and business partner companies throughout New York City. SIP is designed to expose students to careers in various industries, including but not limited to architecture, engineering, construction management, business, and public administration. The program provides interns with diverse internship experiences along with career mentoring. Students spend four days a week with their intern host and the remaining day attending educational programming. Assignments will vary depending on the company or department and the student’s skill set. The internship is an in-office position, and the standard hours for the program are 9:00am-4:00pm Monday through Friday. A 10-hour OSHA construction safety course will be provided for students based on assignment need, prior to the start date. Internship assignments may include limited supervised visits to one or more construction sites. Students will be required to submit a parent consent form signed by their parent or legal guardian prior to participating in construction site visits.

The Greenbelt Nature Center hosts the NAC Student Urban Nature Internship program during the summer (with some pre-program requirements earlier in the year).  The application deadline is January 14, 2026.
Since 2022, the NAC has run a paid urban ecology internship program for local high school students to use the framework of science identity to promote environmental stewardship among NYC youth. Over the course of six weeks, high school interns will gain skills in flora and fauna identification, field ecology, natural areas management and stewardship, and the scientific method through several mentored monitoring and restoration projects. Interns will also participate in professional development training in public speaking, networking, and resume building. Finally, interns design and carry out their own ecological research project focused long-term forest health monitoring in NYC Parks. Interns can look forward to collaborative stewardship and field trip days. This program will work out of NYC Parks in Forest Park, Queens and Greenbelt Nature Center in Staten Island.

The mission of the NYS Unified Court System is to deliver equal justice under the law and to achieve the just, fair and timely resolution of all matters that come before the courts. To promote civic education and readiness, we have developed an Internship Program for high school and undergraduate college students that enhances students’ fundamental understanding of the court system and the role of courts in the function of government. Interns are provided the opportunity to integrate classroom education and theory with practical and relevant career experience. Interns will gain insight regarding the work of judges, attorneys, court clerks, court reporters, court officers, interpreters, and other professionals and receive hands-on experience in the work of the courts.
There are multiple opportunities available throughout the state. Interns will be assigned to a District Office (Albany, Schenectady, Syracuse, Binghamton, Rochester, Buffalo, White Plains, Mineola, and Central Islip), a NYC Chief Clerk's Office, or the Office of Court Administration (NYC or Albany). The Internship program will run from July 6, 2026 through August 12, 2026. Candidates should have an interest in working and learning about the justice system and/or legal profession. Students who are economically disadvantaged or come from under-served communities are encouraged to apply.

Applications are now open for the Summer 2026 Sonia & Celina Sotomayor Judicial Internship Program, and will remain open until January 9, 2026. All high school juniors (Class of 2027) who live and attend school in NYC are welcome to apply.

In addition, they will be holding a virtual information session next Tuesday, December 9 at 7 PM. Interested students should register. More information on registration and application can be found in the CDC google classroom.
