NYC SCA Summer Internship Program 2022

Program Highlights:

  • Students receive career exposure and mentoring. 
  • Students participate in various workshops on business etiquette, workplace communication, MS Excel, career exploration, college preparation, college success factors, leadership, financial literacy, mental health and hygiene, and may include a tour of a SCA construction site.
  • Students are able to network with industry professionals, interns and staff members. 
  • Students are paid $15 an hour for 30 hours a week during the six week internship.

Eligibility:

  • The program is open to New York City public high school students.
  • GPA requirement: 80 or above.
  • Students must be available for the program’s six week duration.
  • Applicants who receive a conditional offer of employment must be able to provide original unexpired I-9 documentation to show their identity and employment authorization to work in the United States as well as  age-appropriate working papers (for those born after July 5, 2004), and
  • If selected, applicants must provide original proof that that they are fully vaccinated with an approved COVID-19 vaccine.

  • Students must submit the following as part of their completed application by April 1:  online application for the Summer Intern 2022 position, current resume, and complete official transcript.  Incomplete applications will not be considered.   • Click Application Guide below for instructions on how to complete and submit the online application.
  • Upload your resume to the online application.
  • Upload your transcript, as a pdf document, to the online application or ask your school counselor to send the document to SIP by email to [email protected].
  • Students will be notified by email of the selection decisions for the interview process by April 8.  Students selected to interview will be contacted to arrange an interview appointment via MS Teams during the NYC DOE Spring break from April 18-22.
  • Students who complete the interview process will be notified of the final selection decisions for the program by April 26. Students selected for SIP will receive a SCA employment package by email. They will need to submit a scanned copy of their completed employment  package, along with a copy of their age-appropriate working papers (for those born after July 5, 2004)  I-9 documentation, to show identify and work authorization, and a copy of their vaccination card by email by May 2. Selected students will be required to present their original I-9 document(s), working papers (if applicable) and vaccination card to the SCA’s Human Resources department on or before the program start date.
