Dear Parents,
We are excited to announce that our school has been renewed to receive $25,000 in Global Navigator Scholarships for Staten Island Tech students to study abroad during their 2020 summer break!
This is a rare opportunity for your teen to grow and gain experience for college and beyond. A high school study abroad experience also puts students in the top 1% of college applicants and gives them a great topic for their college application essays.
These summer study abroad programs are offered by CIEE, a leader in international education. CIEE has over 70 years of experience in international exchanges, handles all aspects of the program and travel, and offers start-to-finish support – insurance, great attention to safety, and 24/7 support lines.

- Language & Culture – Whether your teen is interested in Spanish, French, Mandarin Chinese, German, Japanese, Italian, or Arabic, language and cultural immersion programs are the best way to build language fluency and cultural competence. Upon completion, students will come home with a certificate showing growth in language proficiency, new cultural insights, and a portfolio of media products demonstrating their progress. For a $150 transcript fee, students can opt to receive 4 college credits for their 4-week program.
- Service & Leadership – In community projects in the Dominican Republic, Thailand, Ghana, Mexico, Tanzania, Morocco or India, students help to make the world a better place and develop lifelong skills that will serve them as global citizens. Service projects focus on community development, the environment, children’s rights, or education, and students earn a certificate for 50 hours of service learning.
- Global Discovery – Students explore a personal interest in places such as London, South Korea, Costa Rica, Tokyo, Copenhagen, Madrid, Berlin or Dublin and may even get a head start on a career! Programs include, but are not limited to Theater, Digital Filmmaking & Documentary, Human Rights & Environmental Policy, Biodiversity & Conservation, Public Health, Government, Global Entrepreneurship, or Marine Ecology.
Students graduating in 2021, 2022, or 2023 are eligible to apply for a scholarship for Summer 2020. Scholarship funds will be awarded based on merit and on financial need. Students traveling on a scholarship from previous summers are not eligible to reapply for scholarships, but will receive an Alumni Discount of 10% off their summer program. The final scholarship deadline will be Friday, February 14th.
