					<description><![CDATA[Established since 1950, the Italian Club of Staten Island Foundation [501(c)(3), ICOSIF] is offering a scholarship to students of Italian descent, and enrolling into their first year of college/university. Applicants are expected to represent the best of the values in life and scholarship in accordance the mission of the ICOSIF Foundation, and is required to be a resident of Richmond County. The scholarship awarded to selected applicants is: seven-thousand, five hundred dollars. icosif.org/ scholarship-info The successful applicant is required to receive the scholarship award, in person, at a ICOSIF reception on Staten Island, N.Y. and scheduled for: Thursday, May 7, 2026.
The eligibility requirements for the scholarship award are described below. The primary application requirements include a submission of offical, high school transcripts, resume and an essay: "Value of Family, Italian Heritage and Charity in Your Life". This original essay, crafted by the student, is considered a significant component of the application by the Review Committee, and should reflect the honesty, empathy and noblest aspirations of their Italian forefathers.

The deadline for receipt of application materials is Wednesday, April 1, 2026. Material may be submitted by e-mail as directed, but official transcripts and documentation should only be submitted through the official portal/ or U.S.P.S. mail from the Guidance Department of the High School.
MERIT SCHOLARSHIP ELIGIBILITY INFORMATION 
Eligibility:
• Applicants must be enrolling into their first year of college/university. 
• Applicant must be a resident of Staten Island, N.Y., and at least 25% Italian heritage. 
• Applicant should have a minimum G.P.A. of 3.5. 
• Mandatory attendance is required at the Awards reception on Thursday, May 7, 2026. 

Scholastic Requirements An official, high school transcript should be sent directly from the Guidance Department at the High School to the submission address, below. E-mail correspondence (PDF) preferred. The official, high school transcript should include: all enrolled courses through Senior year, grade point average and/or scores, if any, of the following examinations: Regents, SAT, ACT, E.C.T., Advanced Placement Examinations, Content Specialty Area, and/or P.S.A.T., I.B. endorsements, including academic & industrial skills certifications. All official, high school transcripts must be updated and completed prior to the April 1, 2026, deadline. For verification and identification, please include the College Guidance Counselor and the applicant’s contact information: e-mail, telephone number, and mailing address with all submissions. 

Requirements: Essay and Curriculum vitae: 
The Italian Club [501(c)3] is based on a set of fundamental values. (ICSIF.org) The applicant must also submit an essay and curriculum vitae: Topic: Value of the Italian Culture & Heritage, Family and Charity in Your Life. Please list: extracurricular/ volunteer activities, educational/professional aspirations, and membership in any clubs and/or associations that demonstrate the values expressed in the student’s essay. 

Letter(s) of Recommendation: Letters of recommendation are optional, but the Review Committee encourages the submission. 

Financial and/or other hardship consideration: While the Italian Club of Staten Island Foundation scholarships are not based on need, it will be considered in the review process.

This year, 300 students will be awarded with scholarships up to $2,500 to help fund their education. Funds may be used for tuition, childcare, transportation, equipment, supplies, or other related costs. 

To apply for a scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  *   Have completed high school (or equivalency) by July 1

  *   Plan to attend a not-for-profit community college or trade/vocational school

  *   Enroll in an associate’s degree, certificate, or diploma program by September that will lead to employment

  *   May not be enrolled in pre-requisite courses

  *   Demonstrate financial need (applicants must show household income of $100,000 or less)

  *   Be under the age of 35

  *   Be a United States citizen

Students who were awarded these scholarships will receive them over their four years of college.

Looking for creative ideas for students outside the classroom? CareerSafe is here to help!  The National Youth Safety Video Contest is a competition where students are challenged to create a short video demonstrating safety in the workplace.

The top 3 video winners and their school will receive up to $7,500 in scholarship prizes and be announced at the Opening Ceremony of the 2021 SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference in Atlanta, GA.

In a time of social distancing, these short films do not need multiple students together.  They can be recorded with a cell phone and tripod/phone holder (landscape recording).  Students can be as creative as they like, as long as the message of youth safety in the workplace is delivered.  Submission deadline is March 1, 2021.]]></description>

					<description><![CDATA[The Future of STEM Scholars Initiative (FOSSI) is providing $10K/year scholarships for up to 150 high school seniors pursuing undergraduate STEM degrees (preferably chemical/civil/electrical/mechanical engineering, biology, chemistry, math, or computer science) in a Historically Black College or University (HBCU).
Student Eligibility Requirements:
Applicant must be a high school senior (graduating class of 2021)
Applicants must be completing or have completed high school successfully with a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
Applicants must be accepted as a full-time student at a college or university for the upcoming academic semester.
Applicants must plan to pursue studies at a historically black college or university (HBCU).
Applicants must plan to pursue studies in a field associated with STEM, MIQA, technical or operation manufacturing.
Applicants must be a citizen or legal permanent resident of the United States.

					<description><![CDATA[The Ron Brown Scholarship honors the legacy of Ronald H. Brown through a selective scholarship program that advances higher education for community-minded and intellectually gifted African Americans.  RBSP competitively awards Ron Brown Scholars four-year $40,000 scholarships ($10,000 each year) to the most talented and economically-challenged high school seniors who demonstrate a keen interest in public service, community engagement, business entrepreneurship and global citizenship – the four pillars of the late Ronald H. Brown’s mission to uplift people of all races, cultures and ethnicities – especially our disadvantaged youth.

Recipients may use the renewable scholarships to attend an accredited four-year college or university of their choice within the United States. Ron Brown scholarships are not limited to any specific field or career objective and may be used to pursue any academic discipline.  Since the Program’s inception in 1996, more than 300 students have been designated as Ron Brown Scholars.

					<description><![CDATA[Launched in 1989, the Turner Construction YouthForce program is designed to provide underserved New York City high school students with opportunities in the construction industry.
 
Turner offers an $8,000 scholarship to five students annually. Students are required to maintain a 2.80 GPA while pursuing a degree in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, Sustainability, Construction Management or Architecture.
 
Additionally, students are offered a mandatory internship for three summers to begin following their freshman year of college.

National Grid's Engineering Pipeline Program (EPP) offers high school students the chance to learn more about National Grid and the engineering profession as a whole. It's a chance for students to translate their interest in science, technology, engineering or mathematics into a future career of their choice.
This year’s program will be taking place from Monday, July 15 – Wednesday July 17 and students must apply no later than April 26th.
